Planning and Controls Manager

WeConnect Energy is supporting a key client in Abu Dhabi in recruiting an experienced Planning & Controls Manager for a conventional Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) or renewable energy project involving Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or Photovoltaic (PV) technology.

The successful candidate will oversee project planning, scheduling, cost control, progress reporting, and project controls assurance to help ensure delivery within approved budgets and contractual timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee project planning, scheduling, progress monitoring, and reporting requirements.

Review Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), EPC contracts, grid connection arrangements, permitting obligations, and other project agreements.

Conduct critical path analysis, challenge schedule deviations, and recommend proactive recovery measures.

Monitor EPC contractor compliance with project planning and controls requirements.

Support weekly planning reviews and progress meetings with EPC contractors and project teams.

Recruit, onboard, and oversee project controls engineers.

Independently assess project status, forecasts, recovery plans, and reported performance.

Conduct project controls health checks and escalate schedule, cost, resource, risk, change, and claims issues.

Integrate schedule, cost, resources, progress, risk, and change management with finance and other functions.

Key Requirements

Proven experience in project planning, scheduling, and progress tracking within the energy sector.

Specific experience in renewable energy projects or CCGT projects is required.

10+ years of management experience.

Strong expertise in cost control, budgeting, forecasting, and project financial analysis.

Proficiency in Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar planning tools.

Ability to develop and interpret dashboards, reports, and project performance metrics.

Excellent stakeholder management, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Finance, or a related discipline.

PMP, APM, or equivalent professional certification is an advantage.

Authorization to work in the UAE.
